Let me tell you what I did last August. I took a short trip to Arkansas this weekend to see my parents. I left right after school on Friday. It took 9 hours to get to the small town where I was raised as a child. The reason for the trip was my 10 year reunion for high school. I also moved more of my stuff back with me. The reunion was saturday at a club called Varsity Grill. To get ready for the event I went to get a haircut and highlights. I also got a neutral outfit together, not to fancy and not to casual. I arrived at 6:30 pm and did not leave until 10:45 pm that night. It was hard finding a parking spot because the Blue's Festival was going on down at the river front. As I pulled in so did 2 of my close friends from high school. They were high school sweethearts and married 5 months after graduation. As we went into the club we went upstairs to a private area where more of my former classmates waited. We were given name tags, so people who wasn't recognized visually would be by their name. As I looked around I saw alot of familiar faces. Everyone was saying hello, showing pictures of their families, and talking about events that happened back in high school. Over forty people came to the reunion, some of the ones I wanted to see didn't couldn't make it. Everyone's attitude towards each other had changed. A lot of us had grown up mentally, some physically, and emotionally. It was great to talk to the ones you normally didn't in high school. I found out how their lives had changed in 10 years of time. The unexpected surprise was winning the most changed classmate award. I figured everyone had changed somehow. People were having to read my name tag to see who I was. It was fun seeing people's expressions. I have changed since high school. I've lost one hundred fifteen pounds since then, I cut my long brown hair to short brown hair with blonde highlights. I am so glad I went, now I have phone numbers, e-mail addresses, and new found friendships I thought would never happen. I plan on keeping in touch with everyone I can. Everyone needs to go to their reunions, put away all the bad stuff that might have happened, and move forward. You never know what could happen after 10 years. I found out, so should you.
